Ellen Josem has worked at The Jewish Board since 1980, and currently serves as the agency’s Chief Legal Officer. During her four-decade career, she has been involved in major organizational developments, including the agency’s response to the AIDS crisis, the strategic transition to stable Medicaid funding, and the development of specialized UJA-Federation support programs for immigrants from the former Soviet Union. She played an instrumental role in The Jewish Board’s complex acquisition of FEGS’s mental health portfolio following FEGS’s bankruptcy. Having served under five executive directors/CEOs, Josem offers unique insights into how The Jewish Board has evolved to meet changing community needs while maintaining its core mission.
