Alan Siskind worked at The Jewish Board from 1965-2007. He began as a social intern for the then Jewish Family Service (JFS). Shortly before the eventual merger of JFS and Jewish Board of Guardians (JBG), he joined the staff of JBG’s Linden Hill School as Assistant Director. After serving as Linden Hill’s Director, he then became the Director of day treatment and residential treatment at the neighboring Hawthorne Ceder Knolls campus. Siskind served as the Associate Director under CEO Jerome Goldsmith and then succeeded Goldsmith as Chief Executive. As CEO, Siskind collaborated closely with Assistant Director Mary Pender Greene and thenAssociate Director Paul Levine to diversify The Jewish Board’s staff and to mandate anti-racism training. He also oversaw a period of growth during which The Jewish Board’s budget grew threefold, from around $56 to $175 million. After retiring, Siskind continued to work with Pender Greene, Levine, and other former Jewish Board staff to further anti-racism in the social service field.
